Principal Mechanical Engineer

        Hardware R&D

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Propose innovative ideas and solutions for new product development
  • Fully Participate in 3D CAD design and 2D drawing reviews and solve engineering problems
  • Lead, coach, and guide various levels of mechanical engineers to exceed expectations
  • Lead collaboration and communication work between US and China mechanical engineering team
  • Prototype new mechanisms test materials and research new 3D printing technologies
  • Build, prototype components and assemblies using our in-house 3D printers and other machining equipment.
  • Design assemble, test, and evaluate the performance of engineering prototypes
  • Put your mechanical design skills to practice and implement your academic knowledge to industrial experience
  • Identify existing products and research products failure mode and effects
  • Perform root cause analysis of mechanical systems and electronic systems by using data-driven tools 
  • Create detailed evaluation reports of any hardware and firmware issues reported from the support team or repair team
  • Work with manufacturers to create new process test procedures to enhance our product’s reliability and production efficiency

Key Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience in designing complex electromechanical systems or products
  • 5+ years experience in hardware debugging and have the desire to understand why
  • 5+ years in leading teams, including offshore engineers
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Mechanical or Materials Engineering
  • Professional in CAD modeling 2D drawing and GD&T
  • Knowledge of motor systems sensors and control systems
  • Prototyping and hands-on experience
  • Detail-oriented on testing and validating prototype and system
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing process
  • 3D printing technology experience preferred
  • Industrial design experience preferred
  • Scripting ability including python SQL related data analysis tools (preferred)
  • Familiar with project management (preferred)

 

The salary band that this position falls into ranges from $100,000 to $162,000, with some differences for locations outside of California. SprintRay uses broad banding. Actual salary is based on position, market factors, location, experience, and qualifications.
